Prague International Chess Festival 2026 invites you to Hotel Don Giovanni

From February 24 to March 6, 2026, the eighth edition of the Prague International Chess Festival will take place at the Don Giovanni Hotel in Prague. The traditional event organized by the 1st Nový Bor Chess Club will once again be ranked among the most significant chess events in Central Europe and will offer a top-class program for participants of all levels as well as the general public.The festival will ceremoniously begin on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. In the following days, not only the prestigious Masters and Challengers grandmaster tournaments will be held, but also the closed youth tournament Futures.

For the wider chess community, there will be open tournaments with the possibility of fulfilling GM title norms, closed rating competitions, rapid and blitz tournaments, or special formats such as Basque Chess, Fischer Random Chess, or Bughouse. A total of 12 tournaments (A–L) are scheduled, whose results will count towards the overall standings of the Don Giovanni Grand Prix 2026. Players of all ages and levels – from beginners to the world’s elite – will compete for an attractive prize fund.

Over the course of seven years, the festival has built a reputation as a prestigious chess event where world grandmasters meet the next generation as well as amateur players. The eighth edition will once again offer a combination of top-level sport and a pleasant social atmosphere,” says Festival Director Petr Boleslav.

Registration is already open! Players can sign up via the online form at Registration on Prague Chess Festival. Binding applications for the open tournaments D and E must be submitted no later than February 10, 2026.
In addition to the main tournaments, the festival program also includes a solving competition, daily chess quizzes, and a rich accompanying program. The closing ceremony will take place on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
