The Masters line-up crowned with Anish Giri
Revealing the last name of the roster for this year’s prestigious Masters tournament at the Festival has been delayed long enough. With just two weeks until the start of the festival, it’s time to announce the magical name: Anish Giri.
A five-time champion of the Netherlands, Giri has consistently represented his country as the unshakable number 1 at chess Olympiads since 2010. Among the many prestigious trophies the 30-year-old Giri has collected are the first-place finish at the Reggio Emilia 2012 tournament, gold at the Shenzhen Masters 2019, and the coveted victory at the Tata Steel Chess in 2023.
A two-time participant in the Candidates Tournament, Giri will take main stage at the Festival for the first time. The steady member of the world TOP 10 since 2014 might have dropped out of this prestigious club last year, but despite that, he will remain one of the main favorites for first place in this year’s Prague Masters.
