Keymer and Praggnanandhaa confirmed to participate in Masters
Vincent Keymer, currently ranked No. 1 in Germany and 20th in the world, has confirmed his participation in the Masters tournament for the third time. Among others, he will face off against Indian Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa, who narrowly missed the winners’ podium in this year’s Masters tournament.
Vincent Keymer, a long-time and undisputed No. 1 in the German rankings, celebrated his 20th birthday just a month ago. The past few months have been remarkably successful for the young Grandmaster. In August, he triumphed at the prestigious Rubinstein Memorial in Polanica, Poland, and gained more points than David Navara, Sam Shankland or Jan-Krzysztof Duda. outperforming players like David Navara, Sam Shankland, and Jan-Krzysztof Duda. In September, he represented Germany at the Chess Olympiad in Budapest, where the team assumed 7th place. Keymer’s success continued into October, when he shone at the European Chess Club in Serbia. Representing the Nový Bor Chess Club on the second board, he delivered an impressive performance of 5.5/7 points, contributing significantly to his team’s gold-medal victory.
Indian chess star Praggnanandhaa is also set to return to the Prague tournament for the third time. This February, he narrowly missed a podium finish but managed to defeat the overall winner, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, as well as bronze medalist Parham Maghsoodloo. Hailing from Chennai, the 19-year-old Grandmaster has achieved remarkable success at a young age. His most recent accomplishment is undoubtedly his greatest: winning gold with the Indian team at the Budapest Chess Olympiad.
