Chief Arbiter
Pavel Votruba
The Chief arbiter of Prague International Chess Festival is IA Pavel Votruba. He was born in Prague on 23. 9. 1948 and his chess career started in Tesla Karlin. He played for the Czechoslovakian national team at World University Championship in 1968 and 1969. Pavel Votruba won the international tournament in Prievidza in 1973, shared 1st place in Berlin in 1985, took the second prize in Budapest in 1983 and finished 3rd in Wijk aan Zee B tournament in the same year. He was awarded the International master title in 1993.
Besides having a rich career as a player Pavel Votruba is one of the most respected and accomplished chess arbiters as well. He achieved the International Arbiter title in 1994. He was in charge of countless top chess events, one example for all being the Chief arbiter in Wijk aan Zee since 2009.
Deputy Arbiter
Jiřina Prokopová
Jiřina Prokopová is the chairman of Czech Arbiters' Commission and has a lot of experience with all kinds of national and international events. She attended the last two Olympiads as well as many European or World championships.
At the time of the Olympiad in Baku she was the youngest International Arbiter in the world and currently is the youngest in B category. She is also a member of ECU Arbiters Council and FIDE Arbiters' Commission. Apart from arbitrating she is a Ph.D. physics student.
